More Lindsey woes....

My Lindsey and I could be the poster children for the saying "Leave well enough Alone".

Some of you may remember that I mentioned my Lindsey's skintone was off.I called CS, they said send her in, I did.The doll hosptial called, said Lindsey's skin was as good as it gets.They said they would send her home with only a wellness check, Neck strings intact.
Instead, she came home with a replaced fabric body and a plastic tie strip around her neck instead of the strings....

I called CS, they said to send her back in because I had requested that her strings be kept in place.They said they would give her back her original body and replace her neck strings.

I called back and requested a prepaid label for her return trip.

UPDATE:

Well.... the prepaid label arrived on Wed. It directed my Lindsey to the RETURNS DEPT!
I was really, really concerned about that, so I got hubby to call for me.The nice Lady on the phone said to change the address on the prepaid label so that Lindsey would go to the hospital...

Changing the label made me nervous, but not as nervous as sending her to the RETURNS DEPT.

I dropped her *sniff* [img]graemlins/cry_smile.gif[/img] off at UPS on Wed.
Her tracking number sat still.I checked it a billion times on Wed. and Thurs. Finally last night, she began to move.

This morning I checked her tracking number, and to my horror she was OUT FOR DELIVERY... in TENNESSEE!

About an hour later, it showed her departure scan...

I am so worried.I just want her there, and back safe and sound.

Also, the strings allow you to remove or readjust the head if necessary - plastic ties do not. Being able to remove the head allows you to remove stuffing or add stuffing to a too-chubby/too-skinny doll. It allows you to straighten a head that perhaps is on crooked or tilted. If something were to happen to the doll's body, you could remove the head and get it out of the way to clean or otherwise repair the body. Or similarly, if something were to happen to the head, you could remove it to clean it without having to worry about damaging the body. Those are the main reasons why I would never want a plastic tie on one of my dolls.

I did get a doll back from the hospital once with a plastic tie. However, it was pretty easy to remove it myself. I worked on it with a pair of scissors until I cut it through, and it just pulled right out. Then I took the head off to get it out of the way. I got a piece of thick yarn-type string and fastened a safety pin to the end. Then I fed the pin through the doll's neck opening, pulling the string through along with it. Once the string was in place, I positioned the doll's head back on, removed the pin and retied the new string. Voila, no more plastic tie.

I am having issues with my Kailey too- they are sending a return address label for her too. I got her back from the hospital with a plastic tie too- so off she goes again.

I'm so sorry to hear that they sent your dolls back with the ties when you requested strings. I've always heard such great hopsital stories it disappoints me.

But, I have to ask, what is bad about the plastic tie? Does it show worse than the neck strings do? They have always made me crazy because they show when you put the dolls in low necklines (like a leotard).

I really think this is just a fluke. The people at the hospital seem so nice.
I am a worrier by nature anyhow, and this whole thing has been hard on my nerves, lol.

I guess, for me, the problem with the plastic tie is because she is a LE Girl.

It would not bother me on another doll, but with an LE, I just want her as close to original as possible.
It is not a $ value thing.I would not sell Lindsey, ever, but it is just that she is a special Girl (aren't they all?), and I want her to be as she was originally.

In all reality, the plastic ties are more practical.They probably hold the head on more securely and they do not get in the way of dressing the girls.I also think it would be much easier for them to put the zip ties in place at the hospital or factory.That said, I like the stings better.

Why do I like the strings better? I guess because it makes my dolls feel special.It gives them a human touch.It is like when you can see the hand stitching on quilting.It feels like someone put just a little more effort and a little more love into a doll when I see the strings.
